Utica Park Clinic, founded in 1982, is a multi‑specialty medical group with more than 300 employed physicians and advanced practice providers representing over 25 specialties across 80 plus clinics in Oklahoma.
Day in the Life:Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
- Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Support patient visits, including greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and gathering applicable medical information to support the visit and recommended treatment.
- Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients; provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.
- Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations, and pass along patient information for prescriptions, x‑rays, or lab requisitions to necessary parties (pharmacies, hospitals, labs).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office.
- BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.
- Associate’s degree.
- Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or three years of MA experience.
- Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
