A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SPEECH THERAPIST
As a speech therapist in home health, you play a vital role in delivering high-quality services aligned with each patient's care plan. You assist physicians by conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients' functioning levels. Based on these assessments, you help develop or update the care plan, document clinical progress, and consult with families and team members.
You ensure all services comply with CMS documentation and billing standards. Patient safety is paramount; you follow universal precautions to prevent infection and report any abuse according to policy and law. You may also assist with orientation for new staff and participate in training activities. Making a positive difference in patients' lives provides great job satisfaction, making this speech therapy role rewarding!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SPEECH THERAPIST
- At least one year of speech therapy experience
- Current license in good standing with the Oklahoma Medical Board
- CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role
