The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic‑based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
- Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Support patient visits by greeting patients, escorting them to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and recording applicable medical information.
- Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients; provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.
- Address and request referrals and insurance authorizations, and pass along patient information for prescriptions, x‑ray, or lab requisitions to necessary parties (including calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
- BLS certification required within 14 days of start.
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s degree.
- Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or have three years of MA experience.
- Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- For OHI clinics, EMT/Paramedic qualifications meet hiring criteria.
