About This Role

The primary role of the RBG Technology Director, working internally as part of our RBG Professional Services Organization, is to drive the strategic vision and tactical implementation of technology solutions within the RBG. You will collaborate closely with RBG leadership, our Corporate Technology team, and other HDR stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement technology initiatives. The focus is on leveraging technology to optimize project execution and foster innovation within the RBG, through data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.

Success includes developing consistent delivery approaches, connecting people with technology talent, shaping our strategic plan for the next three to five years, and positioning HDR as a differentiator in the marketplace. Communication of complex solutions to non‑technology leadership and balancing competing priorities are essential. This position reports to the RBG Professional Services Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitate development of a RBG technology vision and roadmap, identifying and monitoring strategies for technology investments.
  • Advance and implement technology related to digital delivery, data management, optimization, automation, and visualization.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal business classes to align and advance RBG program initiatives such as data analytics and AI.
  • Develop and implement standardized approaches and best practices for increased efficiency and quality of technology work.
  • Identify programmatic hardware and software needs and work with corporate technology to facilitate solutions.
  • Develop technology guidelines, policies, software validation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Support practice and professional discipline groups to foster technology talent collaboration and skill development.
  • Participate on project teams for larger programs and pursuits.

Preferred Qualifications – experience with a few of the following is a plus:

  • Experience evaluating technology, software development, and deployment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of a broad range of technologies applied within the power, waste, and/or industrial sectors.
  • Experience in numerical modeling, digital production, data science, and AI.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience, with at least 5 years executing projects or leading project teams in the Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction industries.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information science, systems administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to formulate and execute applied technology strategies, implementation plans, and foster lasting change within an organization.
  • Experience in data architecture, data management, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experienced in developing and managing diverse teams.
  • Collaborates effectively with business class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
  • Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
