Branch Manager

O'Connor Company is an industry leader in wholesale HVAC equipment, parts, and tools. The company serves the commercial and residential markets in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. Join us as a Branch Manager to lead all aspects of branch operations—driving sales performance, delivering outstanding customer service, managing inventory, merchandising, and overseeing product receiving and delivery processes.

Job Summary

The Branch Manager is responsible for leading branch operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance with company policies. Key responsibilities include staff supervision and development, schedule management, conflict resolution, financial reporting, inter‑branch coordination, and maintaining effective visual merchandising.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers prompt, professional customer service and resolves issues effectively across multiple communication channels.
  • Builds and sustains strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams through collaborative problem‑solving.
  • Supervises branch staff, managing schedules, payroll, and ensuring timecard accuracy.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR.
  • Fosters a positive work environment through effective communication and consistent leadership.
  • Oversees branch safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Manages timely branch openings/closings and responds to after‑hours alarms.
  • Conducts routine inspections to ensure operational and safety compliance.
  • Monitors inventory impact of large orders and recommends new product additions.
  • Trains staff on product knowledge and information access.
  • Ensures timely stocking of incoming inventory and maintains accurate inventory records.
  • Processes damaged and warranty items promptly and efficiently.
  • Enforces safety policies and promptly addresses hazards.
  • Leads safety initiatives, including daily walkthroughs, weekly meetings, and inspections.
  • Promotes a proactive safety culture and meets established safety goals.
  • Conducts incident investigations and ensures timely, accurate reporting.
  • Adheres to company procedures for cash handling and credit authorizations.
  • Addresses branch issues and reports on key initiatives.
  • Oversees training for new hires and ongoing staff development.
  • Manages training area and coordinates sessions with stakeholders.
  • Supports branch‑wide knowledge and skill growth.
  • Monitors account performance and drives branch sales to meet targets.
  • Analyzes sales data to identify trends and growth opportunities for customers, products, and categories.
  • Maintains alertness and adheres to all safety‑sensitive job requirements.
  • Proficient in company systems for data entry, communication, and operational tasks.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, with flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years in logistics/distribution, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of ISO, LEAN, and Six Sigma practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office technology.
  • Physical demands: full‑time role (40–50 hours/week) requires regular physical activity and equipment operation, including lifting 25–50 lbs., occasional up to 100 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs., use of forklifts, bending, climbing, and reaching.
