Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records and prepares weekly payroll. Assists with payroll functions and the Human Resources group, as assigned.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Audit and coordinate with project teams to ensure accuracy and timely submission and approval of daily employee timesheets for the weekly payroll.
- Process Master File changes on weekly employees, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, address changes, tax withholding, employee deductions, etc.
- Processes payments for additional earnings for weekly employees such as Heart Plan incentives, bonus payments, etc.
- Process employment verifications, including those requested verbally as well as written employment verifications as requested by court order, mortgage companies, etc., adhering to company policy on release of information.
- Answer payroll related questions from employees and management regarding hours worked, rates, overtime, deductions, etc.
- Work with the Payroll Manager to ensure that wage prevailing projects are set up with the correct wage rates per the Wage Determination from the Department of Labor.
- Submit Certified Payroll Reports to project teams as directed. Maintain reports in payroll files for future audits, etc.
- Support Payroll group with reviewing, preparing, and running weekly and/or monthly per diem and subsistence payments.
- Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Administer pre-employment screening, assessment and coordinates interviews as needed.
- Daily resource for weekly employee questions, benefits, and general administrative oversight.
- Run regular compliance and payroll reports for HR, payroll, and office staff.
- Meet schedules and deadlines, adhere to policies and procedures and maintain a good attendance/tardiness record.
- Ensure client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional and efficient handling of issues.
- Job deals with highly senstivie and delicate information. Individual must accept responsibility and understand the need to maintain employee confidentiality at all times.

Knowledge/Skills/AbilityReads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Organizes and manages time, duties and activities efficiently. Understanding of Wage and Hour Law, federal requirements, Davis-Bacon Act, etc.
EducationHigh school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ExperienceSix months relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience will include processing an hourly payroll in a construction or manufacturing environment.
