Quality Inspector

Position Summary:

At the direction of the Quality Manager, theQuality Inspector (QI) - Level 3performs inspection tasks relating to in-process inspection, final inspection, and receiving inspection. Will complete inspection of products such as machined parts, mechanical assemblies, processed parts, and purchased hardware, and will perform verifications of part identification and configurations. The QI will identify and segregate non-conforming product using knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods and common inspection measuring equipment, including but not limited to, surface plates, micrometers, height gages, radius gages, protractors, profilometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators as necessary.

The QI is a versatile team member willing to pitch in and train in other areas of the Quality Department and back up other Quality employees as needed.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Interpret job router/manufacturing order
• Perform basic in-process and final inspection of machine parts, mechanical assemblies, processed parts, or purchased standard hardware
• Perform verifications of part identification and configurations
• Arrange inspection ques to identify work priority
• Identify and segregate non-conforming product
• Basic part transport
• Interpret certifications
• Perform basic maintenance of tools and equipment
• Maintain area cleanliness and organization within 6S initiative
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:

• First article knowledge is a must.
• Shop math.
• Print reading.
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Strong proficiency in close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and like tools.
• Preference for candidates who have experience operating a FARO arm
• Versatility / adaptability to train in other areas of the Quality department and back others up.
• Good time management skills.
• Reliable / dependable
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds, stand frequently, reach with arms, and use close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc …)

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required
• At least 3 years of Quality experience required.
• Aerospace experience required
• Preference for candidates who have experience operating a Faro arm or CMM
• Preference for candidates who have experience operating Instron testing machine.
