Material Handler – 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM)
The Material Handler facilitates production by storing, moving, and delivering production materials and supplies, staging finished products, and maintaining accurate inventory in the warehouse.
Responsibilities (90% of Work Time)- Use Deacom ERP system to pick, move and stage products
- Work with Supply Chain Department to maintain accurate inventory
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
- Perform pre‑shift inspection of assigned forklift and report any safety or mechanical issue discovered prior to operation
- Participate in 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Diligently use PPE at all times
- Other duties as assigned by the management team
- Blend dry or liquid raw materials to a finished product for commercial, agricultural, and industrial uses – ensuring accurate and precise ingredients are used in each batch
- Package finished products into totes, drums, and pails as required
- Turn valves and pour ingredients to fill mixer and pump containers
- Unload trucks and receive packaged materials into inventory, pull orders from inventory, stage finished products, and load finished product for shipment to customers
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products into/from tanker trucks and rail cars across campus (work is completed outdoors)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift experience required
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
- RF scanner experience required
- Verbal and written skills necessary to read and follow instructions
- Meet dress code of a neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Punctual and diligent in adhering to work schedules
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and cross‑train between departments
- Lifting and carrying materials and products (30‑50 lbs or more)
- Pushing and pulling pallets or materials to position them for loading onto the forklift
- Bending and stooping to check loads, pick up materials, or adjust items on pallets
- Climbing in and out of the forklift repeatedly during shifts, and using ladders to access higher levels of storage when necessary
- Standing and walking to inspect inventory, assist with manual tasks, or operate other equipment (exhaustively seated work)
- Strong grip and hand/arm coordination to operate forklift controls and handle materials manually
- Balancing while moving heavy loads on foot and on the forklift, especially on uneven surfaces
- Eye‑hand coordination in tight spaces or while handling delicate goods
- Endurance to maintain focus and physical stamina throughout long shifts
- Visual acuity to read labels, monitor load positions, and assess potential hazards
- Climbing up and down 15‑foot ladders to attach hoses to the top of tanker trucks or rail cars
- Working in a non‑climate‑controlled warehouse with potential exposure to chemicals and moderate noise levels
- Manual lifting, carrying, or moving 50‑pound hoses
- Pushing or pulling 100‑pound totes
- Standing for prolonged periods (8‑12 hours at times) and walking to inspect inventory or operate equipment
- Ability to work unplanned overtime as needed to complete daily workload
- Verbal and written skills required to read and follow instructions and to give directives or directions to warehouse associates
