Overview

A reliable and detail-oriented Batching Operator is responsible for accurately preparing and measuring raw materials according to established formulations and production schedules. This role requires strict attention to detail to ensure product quality, food safety, and consistency. The Batching Operator follows recipes, monitors mixing and batching equipment, maintains precise records, and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety standards. Success in this role depends on accuracy, focus, and the ability to proactively identify and address issues before they impact the batch while maintaining efficient workflow.

The ability to think on your feet and maintain high standards of quality and safety will be essential to the success of our batching operation. This role offers progressive performance levels, ranging from Operator-in-Training through to Expert and Trainer, allowing for growth and development within the position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Weigh and accurately record product and raw material inventory with a high attention to detail.
  • Operate tanks that stir and mix various production materials.
  • Future automation integration planned.
  • Utilize pumps, hoses, filters, and scales throughout the blending process.
  • Verify the weight of raw materials before adding.
  • Accurately complete labeling and blend information sheets.
  • Take samples to QC/Lab for approval.
  • Ensure safe transport and storage of materials.
  • Inspect batch/product output and product quality throughout process.
  • Identify and address potential mechanical or product issues before they escalate.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • As needed:
    Set up / shut down equipment, perform changeovers, PMs, and CIP/clean equipment.
  • Work closely with the maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve product/equipment issues quickly.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to enhance process/equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to drive forklift / obtain forklift certification on site.
  • Strong basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to train.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a food, dietary or pharmaceutical supplement manufacturing, or related manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with Food Safety, CIP, cGMP’s.
  • Forklift driving experience.
  • Experience applying Lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production processes.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Ability to climb steep stairs multiple times a day.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach to perform essential job functions.
  • Frequent standing and walking in production and warehouse environments with exposure to temperature fluctuations, noise, and machinery.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early morning, nights, and weekends.
