Overview

Safely manage a Manufacturing Department, deliver products with no quality defects, respect production committed date (confirmed stock date), at best possible cost. Set and sustain a Continuous Improvement culture within the Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates all required conditions for the team to work safely and checks that all team members and visitors are respecting the HSE rules.
  • Develops HSE training and communication (weekly HSE meetings, yellow cards, STOP cards, etc.).
  • Ensures that all safety and housekeeping standards are adequate to achieve a safe work environment.
  • Creates all required conditions to avoid any long-term incident (LTI), analyzes root causes of LTIs and implements corrective action plans.
  • Ensures that manufactured products respect customer specifications and interrupts manufacturing of non-conforming products.
  • Checks that all products with non-conformity are under control and organizes corrective action plans.
  • Ensures traceability requirements are met at all times (batch markings, welding parameters, test reports, etc.).
  • Provides necessary tools, documentation, and work instructions to operators to perform work safely and efficiently.
  • Together with Planners, builds realistic production plans based on raw material deliveries and Order Delivery requirements (Confirmed Stock Date).
  • Ensures manpower levels are sufficient to support production schedules.
  • Anticipates situations that can generate delays toward objectives, modifies work orders, and decides whether to subcontract some operations.
  • Checks that all equipment is available, plans the test equipment according to order planning, and coordinates technical modification of equipment when necessary to resolve technical, quality, or safety concerns.
  • Initiates, leads, or ensures constructive contribution of staff to continuous improvement workshops.
  • Ensures production organization follows the 5S standards.
  • Selects, evaluates, motivates, and develops employees to build a qualified workforce while complying with local employment guidelines.
  • Empowers manpower flexibility in terms of competencies.
  • Sets personal objectives, provides fair and constructive feedback, assesses performance and training needs, and addresses development opportunities.
  • Develops a positive team dynamic to ensure high performance.
  • Leads the continuous improvement process within the team.
  • Reports to the Production Manager and collaborates with leads across machine, assembly, paint, and weld shops.
  • Works with other departments (Engineering, Purchasing, Traffic, Warehouse) and support functions (HSE & Human Resources).
  • Contacts and collaborates with TDW suppliers.
  • Follows HSE policy by applying instructions and procedures of the HSE manual and participating in hazard and near-miss incident identification.
  • Follows the directives of the Quality System (ISO 9001) by applying the system's instructions and procedures as specified in Level I documents.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in supervising in a welding or mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvements (5S, Kaizen, SMED, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Have managed 25 – 30 direct employees
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing and work in positions such as kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, squatting, or lying down to access different parts of a project
  • Ability to move efficiently around workstations and into tight spaces or high platforms
  • Ability to reach overhead or extend arms for welding tasks in challenging positions
  • Excellent vision (or corrected vision), including depth perception and color recognition
  • Working in hot environments due to welding, sometimes wearing heavy protective gear
  • Aware of surroundings and adhere to safety protocols, including PPE
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs
