Welder I – AMETEK

Position SummaryFabricate and assemble parts through the use of welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- TIG weld thin gauge aluminum, stainless steel, and Inconel based on specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings.
- Set up welding jobs based on the work specifications at hand.
- Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
- Perform your own fit‑ups on units you are building.
- Operate air‑powered tools such as die grinders, cut‑off tools, belt sanders, and air drills.
- Comprehend manuals and blueprints.
- Read calipers and other measuring equipment.
- Observe all safety and security procedures.
- Use equipment and materials properly.
- Report potentially unsafe conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of TIG welding experience.
- Experience welding aerospace parts preferred.
- Experience welding stainless steel, aluminum, and Inconel.
- Experience performing own fit‑ups.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience welding to AWS D17.1 preferred.
- Pass weld test for appearance, penetration, bend, and X‑ray on aluminum and stainless steel.
- Strong troubleshooting knowledge down to component level using measuring gauges and test equipment.
- Strong ethical work habits.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact positively and professionally to develop strong working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
- Work conducted mostly indoors in a shop environment.
- Exposure to heat or cold limited to outdoor walking or when bay doors open for shipping and receiving.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety‑toed shoes required in designated working areas.
Walk, talk, and hear regularly. Stand frequently; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Sit occasionally. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including use of pneumatic and manual lifting devices. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Other- Due to contracts with the United States Government, the candidate must be either a US citizen or permanent resident.
