Position Summary: The Buyer ensures a continuous supply of goods and services to our organization that is globally competitive, meets all specifications, quality and delivery requirements, with the minimum of inventory investment.
Responsibilities- Buy materials based on production need using MRP software
- Compile and communicate accurate pricing to customer service for quoting to customers, including sending out requests for quotes, checking past pricing and quotes, completing Excel spreadsheets and checking material availability in the inventory system.
- Confirm prices and delivery dates on all purchased materials, update the MRP with delivery dates, review action messages for changes, and communicate to suppliers any pricing, delivery or engineering changes.
- Assist in acquiring necessary documents to receive production parts, forward non-conformance reports (NCRs) to suppliers and request returned material authorization (RMA) numbers.
- Manage the approved vendor list; follow up with suppliers on quality certifications and surveys.
- Maintain requirements and procedures associated with Sarbanes Oxley, Conflict Minerals and ITAR.
- Purchase MRO items, assist with capital expenditures by acquiring necessary approvals and reviewing quotations for best value.
- Track shipments from international suppliers; expedite as necessary through the freight forwarder.
- Assist with scheduling as required, reviewing on‑hand inventory against customer requirements.
- Participate in the daily production meeting; communicate deliveries or potential issues to the production department.
- Manage on‑time delivery goals for suppliers; review delivery dates and make adjustments as needed.
- Assist the Engineering Department in maintaining drawing revision levels and lead times in the ERP system.
- Participate in kaizen events as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management; in lieu of a degree, equivalent years of experience are required.
- 2‑5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both by email, phone, and in person.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and MRP systems; MS Dynamics AX preferred.
