We are seeking an experienced Submerged Arc (SAW) Welder to join an ASME-certified fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in single-wire Sub Arc welding , including long seam and round seam production, and the ability to perform hand welding as needed. This role requires strict adherence to API-1104 welding standards and all ASME code requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform Sub Arc welding (SAW) on carbon steel and alloy materials, including:
- Single-wire Sub Arc
- Long seam welding
- Round seam welding
- Set up, operate, and adjust Sub Arc equipment, flux recovery systems, and fixtures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, WPS/PQRs, and ASME code requirements .
- Execute high-quality welds that meet or exceed API-1104 standards .
- Perform hand welding (MIG/Fluxcore/Stick) as required for fit-up, tie-ins, or areas not accessible by Sub Arc equipment.
- Inspect welds to ensure proper penetration, bead appearance, and code compliance.
- Work closely with fitters, fabricators, and QC to ensure correct joint preparation and dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment following shop safety guidelines.
- Assist with minor maintenance or troubleshooting of SAW equipment as needed.
- Minimum 2–5 years experience in Sub Arc welding within a fabrication or ASME code environment.
- Strong experience with single-wire SAW , long seam, and round seam operations.
- Ability to perform hand welding (MIG/Flux, Stick, or TIG) when required.
- Ability to follow API-1104 welding standards and work within an ASME code shop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and weld procedures .
- Familiar with welding gauges, measurement tools, and QA/QC expectations.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
