Base pay range$27.00/hr - $32.00/hr
Compensation Range: $27- $32 per hour
Schedule: Mon-Thurs 6:00am–4:30pm | Overtime as needed
Weekend Option: Fri–Sun 6:00AM–6:30PM (36 hours paid as 40; must work 36 hours + 1 minute to receive the shift differential)
Job Description:
Big Elk Energy Systems is seeking experienced Pipe Welders to support the fabrication of high-quality pipe spools, skidded systems, and infrastructure components for the energy and industrial markets. Welders will work in a controlled shop environment using established procedures and quality standards to produce code-compliant welds that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
This role includes Subarc welding as well as manual welding processes such as GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW, depending on certification level. Welders are expected to maintain strong attention to detail, follow WPS requirements, and work closely with fitters, inspectors, and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pipe welding per API 1104 and/or ASME IX standards
- Execute root, fill, and cap passes using GMAW, SAW, SMAW, GTAW, or FCAW
- Read and follow weld procedures, drawings, and specifications
- Maintain weld quality and documentation standards
- Support inspections including visual, NDT, and hydro testing
- Follow all safety and quality policies

Requirements:
- Ability to pass applicable weld tests (per position and code)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Experience welding pipe in a fabrication shop environment
