Are you a problem-solver at heart? Do you thrive on improving manufacturing systems, integrating advanced technology, and driving measurable results? McElroy Manufacturing is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer who is ready to roll up their sleeves and help advance how we manufacture our products and build our future.
What You’ll DoYou’ll work at the intersection of manufacturing engineering, operations, and advanced technology. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll analyze, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes with a focus on automated warehouse and material-flow systems, robotic welding, manual welding operations, manufacturing automation, and continuous improvement, with additional support for unmanned machining initiatives.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on shop-floor support with longer-term automation and process-improvement initiatives. You’ll own projects from concept through implementation and play a key role in scaling manufacturing capability.
- Optimizing automated material flow:
Improve automated warehouse, storage, retrieval, and point-of-use delivery processes to ensure materials are available when and where production needs them. - Advancing robotic welding:
Develop and improve robotic welding processes, tooling, fixtures, programming, and workflows to increase quality, consistency, throughput, and equipment utilization. - Improving manual welding:
Enhance welding processes, workstations, fixtures, tooling, ergonomics, standard work, and material flow to improve safety, quality, and productivity. - Integrating automation:
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive or non-value-added activities and help implement technologies that improve manufacturing flexibility and efficiency. - Supporting unmanned manufacturing:
Assist with machining and other manufacturing processes that can benefit from extended unattended operation, improved reliability, and reduced operator intervention. - Driving continuous improvement:
Eliminate waste, reduce downtime, improve process capability, increase throughput, and simplify workflows across manufacturing operations. - Leading technology implementation:
Evaluate and implement new equipment, automation, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing technologies from concept through production.
- Develop and improve automated storage, retrieval, and material-delivery processes.
- Optimize the movement of raw materials, work-in-process, tooling, and finished components.
- Improve integration between warehouse activities and production requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce handling, travel, waiting, and excess inventory at the point of use.
- Develop layouts and workflows that support safe, efficient, scalable manufacturing operations.
- Improve robotic welding processes for quality, consistency, throughput, and equipment utilization.
- Develop and improve welding fixtures, tooling, part presentation, and material flow.
- Support the implementation and optimization of robotic welding equipment and supporting automation.
- Identify production constraints and develop solutions that improve reliability and repeatability.
- Support process standardization and training associated with robotic welding operations.
- Improve manual welding processes, workstation layouts, fixtures, tooling, and ergonomics.
- Partner directly with welders and supervisors to identify practical shop-floor improvements.
- Reduce non-value-added activities such as material movement, handling, waiting, and excessive setup.
- Improve standard work and process consistency while maintaining flexibility for varying production requirements.
- Support quality improvements through better process control, fixturing, and manufacturing methods.
- Identify opportunities where automation can improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, or manufacturing capacity.
- Support implementation of automated equipment and technologies across manufacturing.
- Assist with initiatives that expand unattended or unmanned production where practical.
- Support improvements to machining processes, tooling, fixturing, material handling, and equipment utilization without making machining the primary responsibility.
- You become a go-to technical resource for manufacturing automation, automated material flow, robotic welding, and manual welding processes.
- You drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, labor…
