Steel Factory Manager

Our client, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Factory Manager to oversee the overall operations of its manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, ensuring product quality, overseeing stock control and maintenance, leading factory personnel, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards. The ideal candidate must have strong operational leadership skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to drive production efficiency, minimise operational costs, reduce wastage, and ensure the timely delivery of quality products to customers.

To manage and oversee the overall operations of the steel/wire manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient production, quality, maintenance, stock control, employee management, health and safety, cost control and timely delivery to customers.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the steel factory and ensure production targets are achieved.
• Plan and coordinate production according to customer requirements and available resources.
• Monitor production output, productivity, wastage and production costs.
• Ensure raw materials are available and properly controlled.
• Monitor finished goods, work-in-progress and raw-material stock levels.
• Ensure proper stock movements and documentation within the company's ERP/IQ system.
• Supervise factory employees, supervisors and production personnel.
• Manage employee attendance, discipline, performance and productivity in conjunction with HR.
• Ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained and downtime is minimised.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Identify recurring machinery and production problems and implement corrective action.
• Ensure products meet required quality standards and customer specifications.
• Investigate customer complaints relating to manufacturing or product quality.
• Ensure factory housekeeping and general standards are maintained.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Conduct or coordinate toolbox talks, inspections and safety investigations.
• Monitor electricity, consumables, production materials and other factory expenses.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Coordinate loading, dispatch and production schedules with the relevant personnel.
• Ensure production records and reports are completed accurately.
• Report production, stock, maintenance, safety and operational issues to management.
• Assist management with budgeting, capital expenditure and factory improvement projects.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are implemented within the factory.
• Perform other reasonable duties required for the effective operation of the factory.

The Factory Manager will be accountable for production efficiency, product quality, factory costs, stock control, machinery availability, employee productivity, housekeeping, safety and achievement of production requirements.
