Job SummaryResponsible for interfacing with suppliers to ensure that quality expectations are met and to nurture good relationships with suppliers.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- Community College courses in a quality‑related discipline.
- 4+ years in a Quality Engineering role, preferably with SQE (welding and/or stamping).
- Tier 1, Tier 2 or OEM experience is a strong asset.
- Strong communicator in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in understanding and using Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Proficient in using measuring equipment (e.g., verniers, micrometers, height gauges, profile projectors).
- Knowledge of TS16949 / ISO
14001 quality and environmental management standards is an asset. - Product and process knowledge of molding, painting, class A commodity preferred.
- Knowledge of the PLEX system preferred.
- Represent the company’s needs to suppliers and address quality system requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of issues; travel to suppliers/customers as required.
- Notify internal and external suppliers of potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Organize containment of non‑conforming supplied products.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis, SPC data analysis, and maintain up‑to‑date APQP documentation.
- Participate in corrective and preventive actions and in Advanced Product Quality Planning.
- Approve PPAP submissions as required.
- Manage and facilitate monthly Supplier Accumulation programs.
- Create and submit accurate Supplier Debits for non‑conformances and accumulation.
- Recommend disposition of non‑conforming/suspect products in a timely manner and ensure corrective actions meet customer guidelines.
- Assist in variability reduction, process improvement and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all departmental documentation is properly maintained and controlled per IATF
16949. - Participate in regular process audits and internal quality audits to determine effectiveness of the quality system.
- Conduct Supplier Assessments and Supplier Audits as required.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Abide by all company policies.
