Job SummaryThe Barista will serve visitors and hospital staff at Kiosks by making specialty coffee, frozen drinks and a variety of Grab‑n‑Go food items and snacks. They are responsible for merchandising, ordering, management of cash/credit card transactions, cleaning and sanitation.
Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or CertificationValid Oklahoma Food Handler's permit.
Work Experience6 months of food service or retail food experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of food service or retail through education. Previous Barista experience is highly desired.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills and customer service awareness. Ability to learn Barista techniques in making specialty coffee drinks.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Greets customer(s) politely and very courteously, asking if they need help with a drink choice or a food selection.
- Politely ask patron(s) if they have questions, need information or directions ensuring service consciousness.
- Prepares specialty, hot, cold and frozen, beverages/drinks in a timely manner to meet the request of customer(s).
- Operates cash register by charging correct prices for item(s) served accurately, receives (cash, employee payroll deduct, credit & debit cards), tenders sale and counts back change accurately.
- Voids, no sales, and problems with transactions of any type are minimal.
- Over & shorts within $3.00 range.
- Operates all equipment properly, safely, and without damage.
- Keeps work area and all equipment clean, safe and meeting all Health Department Requirements.
- Ensures that all foods are held at appropriate temperatures and items sold are fresh and of optimum quality.
- Orders food and supplies to meet the demands of the kiosk/area.
- Communicates equipment malfunctions or problems to management in a timely manner.
- Participates in cross-utilization of department personnel as needed.
Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working RelationshipsCoordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
