Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customer to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Works under minimal supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls
- Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner
- Diagnoses and performs services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories
- Inspects equipment and performs diagnostics to identify potential problems to prevent breakdowns or callbacks
- Completes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed
- Responsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service work
- Records required information using a handheld device; completes forms and paperwork neatly and accurately; collects payment from customer
- Communicates with dispatch to provide accurate status reports of activities and availability
- Delivers excellent customer service and sustains high levels of customer satisfaction
- Promotes products and services to the customer and informs Sales/Service Coordinator of replacement product sales leads
- Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and accounted for
- Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters
- Follows standard procedures and ensures vehicles are stocked; returns defective parts and orders/replenishes stock as needed
- Performs similar duties as needed or assigned
Roles and Responsibilities
- Reports unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to supervisor immediately
- Reports any contravention of legislation or company policy to supervisor immediately
- Uses and maintains appropriate PPE as prescribed
- Maintains safety guards and follows safety procedures
- Participates in safety initiatives and teams
- Reports injuries or incidents immediately and contributes to safety planning
- Complies with applicable laws and company programs
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 1-5 years of HVAC experience and technical training certification
- Licensing/certification as required by local regulations; EPA and safety certifications
- Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment and related accessories
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools and equipment
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
- Ability to start up and balance airflow, align belts/pulleys
- Ability to install basic duct fittings and repair related equipment
- Strong customer service and time-management skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; flexible hours and on-call availability
- Physical ability to stand/walk, climb ladders, access crawl spaces, lift up to 75 pounds
