Pay RangeProvided range: $13.65/hr - $14.00/hr (actual pay will be based on skills and experience).
Full‑time (30+ hrs/week) and part‑time (under 30 hrs/week) positions are available. Availability may vary depending on client needs.
Job OverviewA Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct support in the homes of adults who have developmental, intellectual, and other disabilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following duties:
Responsibilities- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Formally recognizes the accomplishments of others when they display character traits valued by the organization.
- Assists individuals in changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, and cleaning their living area or home.
- Assists individuals in planning, purchasing, preparing, and serving food for themselves and other household members, following standard nutritional guidelines and/or special prescribed diets.
- Assists individuals to and from bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to the lavatory, and up and down stairs when assistance is necessary.
- Assists individuals to dress, bathe, and groom themselves when assistance is required.
- Administers prescribed oral and/or topical medications under written direction of a physician.
- Accompanies individuals who are ambulatory and those who are not to participate in a wide variety of out‑of‑home activities, serving as guide, companion, and aide.
- Assists individuals in securing and attending volunteer and other community vocation activities to prepare for competitive employment.
- Provides transportation to work, therapies, or leisure activities using public transportation, agency‑leased vehicles, or private vehicles.
- Entertains the individual at home by reading aloud, playing card or board games, and engaging in other activities of interest.
- Participates with the individual in leisure activities such as visits to family, swimming, bicycling, movies, concerts, church activities, picnics, and amusement parks.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as requested, such as obtaining household supplies and running errands.
- Maintains detailed records of services performed and the individual's apparent condition.
