Position Summary
The Human Trafficking Protective Order Advocate serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The Advocate will be primarily located at the Family Safety Center in Downtown Tulsa. This position will assist survivors of human trafficking with protective orders and other court related matters. Primary responsibilities include assisting survivors in filing protective orders, providing court advocacy, connecting survivors with community resources, and performing follow-up and clerical tasks.
The Advocate will have flexibility to serve as a resource to other DVIS programs that encounter survivors.

Client Services
- Adhere to federal and state regulations for client services, ensuring confidentiality and avoiding inappropriate conduct.
- Maintain a high level of professional and ethical conduct toward clients, staff, and the community.
- Provide aid, advocacy, and moral support to survivors in filing Emergency Protective Orders and attending court appearances.
- Coordinate with other DVIS departments to assist survivors of human trafficking.
- Attend or lead trainings on human trafficking.
- Participate in community outreach regarding human trafficking.
Priority 3:
Collaboration
- Assist clients with protective order filings.
- Conduct initial assessments and match needs with appropriate services.
- Utilize the Oklahoma Supreme Court Network for legal matters.
- Aid clients in completing paperwork and explain court procedures.
- Collaborate with clients to assess risks and goals, incorporating into Safety Plans.
- Make referrals to community agencies as necessary.
- Maintain client document files per DVIS guidelines.
- Compile daily statistics for reports to funding sources and courts.
- Work independently and within teams.
- Perform additional assigned duties.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities:
Compile daily statistics for reports to funding sources and courts. Acts as a good steward of DVIS’s resources.
Responsibility for Confidentiality:
Safeguard against release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.
Contact with Others:
Interact with managers at all levels, staff members across the organization, external organizations, and the public.
Documentation:
Maintain up-to-date and accurate files for each client per agency guidelines.
Meetings and Training:
Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
Education: Bachelor’s in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with victims of crime.
Experience: Minimum 2 years with victims of crime and/or domestic violence; experience working with a nonprofit and with Human Trafficking strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) required, bilingual preferred. Knowledge of social justice issues (intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues) and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion; excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Negotiation skills and diplomacy for handling sensitive information.
