SummaryThe VCS Athletic Coach is responsible for assisting and supporting in coaching duties for one of a variety of individual or team athletic programs. May specialise in one or more specific areas of coaching expertise or a specific component of a team program. The Athletic Coach will work with student athletes in developing proper skills, game strategies, and maintaining discipline. The Athletic Coach assists the VCS Athletic program in providing leadership and supervision for all team activities promoting an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Duties & Responsibilities- Assist in the coordination and supervision of the athletic program and team.
- Help students achieve gains in athletic skill and team performance.
- Assist in designing a training program and game program.
- Assume duties of the Head Coach if required to do so.
- Assist in the development of team rules, communicating them to the players and parents, and equitably enforce them.
- Maintain good public relations for the athletic program including:
- Ensure that student athletes meet eligibility rules.
- Ensure that student athletes adhere to training rules, lettering policies, grade requirements, and rules of behavior.
- Ensure the continual supervision of student athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker and shower rooms.
- Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.
- Immediately report all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competition to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- See that school policies are observed during all activities.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
- Obtain advance approval of the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director for all activities and expenditures.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood-borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Superintendent.
- Bachelor’s Degree related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with student athletes.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable sports and playing rules.
- Knowledge of OSAA rules governing the program and student-athletes.
- Speaks English at an idiomatic level.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement activities.
- Exceptional leadership skills and knowledge in coordinating activities, training, and games under direction of a Head Coach and/or Athletic Director.

- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Requires some travel.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes.
- Sighted with capacity to visually monitor athletes.
- Excellent English written and oral communications.

- Maintains Victory protocol, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates integrity.
- Performs and maintains tasks with an appropriate level of confidentiality.

- Fully participates in the life of the church as an active member in good standing with Victory.
- Supports and adheres to the mission, vision, values, and philosophy of Victory.
- Submits to and supports the leadership of Victory.
- Works well as a team player with leaders, staff, and volunteers.
