- Pathfinder Defined Contribution Plan: available to employees who began State employment after November 1st, 2015. Employer matches 6% with an employee contribution of 4.5%. Employer matches 7% with an employee contribution of 7% or above.
- OPERS Defined Benefit Plan: available to returning employees who were previously enrolled in OPERS.
- 15 days accrued annually during the first 1-5 years of service; 18 days for 5-10 years; 20 days for 10-20 years; 25 days for over 20 years. Sick leave: 15 days per year.

- Longevity payments are paid annually to eligible State employees with a minimum of 2 years of State service.

Positions in this job family are responsible for operating power equipment and performing related tasks in the maintenance and repair of highways.
Typical Functions- Operate equipment or heavy machinery such as trucks, tractors, road graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines, semi-trailers, snow removal equipment and other equipment as needed.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
- Repair failures in the roadway shoulders or bridge decks.
- Repair and/or replace signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
- Provide traffic control assistance using a stop/slow sign or flag to direct highway traffic.
- Apply herbicide to highway rights-of-way to control weeds and other unwanted vegetation.
- Remove debris including tires, animal carcasses, spilled items and other obstacles.
Level I – Basic level where incumbents work under close supervision operating and maintaining power equipment and performing related unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of highways.
Level II – Career level where incumbents perform skilled work at the full performance level in operating heavy equipment used in highway construction or repair and also perform a variety of routine highway maintenance duties.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesLevel I – Knowledge of the safe operation of heavy machinery; ability to perform manual labor, maintain and operate power equipment, and follow instructions.
Level II – Knowledge of the operation and servicing of equipment or heavy machinery used in highway construction and maintenance, materials used in highway construction and maintenance, and proper highway traffic control during maintenance operations.
