The preferred candidate is a Licensed Massage Therapist or other licensed healthcare provider with a minimum of three years of practical experience. The candidate holds an active license in their field. The candidate possesses excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, and has the ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information. The ability to work evenings is essential. Maintaining a current massage practice, to bring relevance into the classroom, is highly desirable.

The current teaching schedule is Tuesday evenings from 6-10 pm. There are 27 classes spread out over the 11-month program.

Kinesiology Instructors have a strong knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology, and deliver courses on human anatomy, planes of movement, directional terms, synergists and antagonists, muscle groups, common joints and joint structure, muscle origin/insertion/action, bones, boney landmarks, and the skeletal system as they relate to the practice of massage therapy.

The Instructor is responsible to know, understand, and be able to deliver their assigned courses in Body mechanics curriculum, as designed and implemented by the President. The Instructor gives lectures, provides demonstrations, and plans and oversees classroom activities. Tests are administered to make sure that students comprehend the material, and effective feedback is given to each student with specific advice in areas that need improvement.

Other tasks include keeping record of student progress, attendance, and performance, and reporting those items to the Campus Coordinator. The Instructor may also provide support to teaching assistants as assigned.

Required duties include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain compliance with all school policies and procedures
• Deliver the Body mechanics curriculum as written
• Monitor and report on student attendance and progress
• Direct students in the proper safety, sanitation, and maintenance of classroom equipment
• Provide tutoring for required make-up sessions, as assigned by the Director
• Actively scout for teaching assistants in current student body
• Attend 32-hour Massage Therapy Instructor Training course within the first year (no cost for employees). This course is held on zoom and dates/times will be provided to all staff.

Compensation:

• Instructors starting pay is $25 per hour for teaching
  • Each class is 4-hours
• Instructors pay increases to $28 per hour once the MTI course is completed
