• Cashier/Checker is visible, greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Cashiers process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Checkers understand the POS system and handle tender types such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures per policy.
• Understand and adhere to cash shortage and overage limits and work to control loss.
• Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions or issues and notifying management.
• Inspect equipment and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items in need of repair.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products sold in the store.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

The final rate of pay is determined at store level based on prior equivalent work experience.
