Certified Secondary Teacher (January – May, 2026)
Join the Tupelo Public School District as a Certified Secondary Teacher for the 2026 school year. This full‑time position focuses on teaching and supporting students in developing essential knowledge and skills.
Job GoalTo help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
Qualifications- Mississippi Educator License with appropriate endorsement.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as may be approved by the Board or superintendent.

Physical DemandsThe employee is required to move freely around the classroom, communicate effectively, and make continuous use of hands to grasp items during the day.
Performance Responsibilities- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and provides written evidence of preparation upon request of supervisor.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the available setting and the needs of the students.
- Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and action.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities of students, seeking assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
- Assists the administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable classroom rules and maintains order fairly.
- Provides availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably required.
- Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides, assistants, volunteers, and evaluates their performance.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
