Position: Corporate Controller (Tupelo, MS)

A great opportunity for a Corporate Controller to build and create your own team, as Exxel Outdoors relocates our accounting and finance functions to Tupelo from Colorado. We are an outdoor product manufacturer that owns a number of key outdoor brands, that has made a decision to move our accounting team down to Tupelo by our Fulfillment Center, and where our Company CFO/COO is located.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for monitoring, reviewing and documenting all accounting transactions and for the preparation of reporting financial results, cash management, and financing compliance. The position is also responsible for the reporting and supervision of the accounts receivable and accounts payable team. This role assists management in evaluation of projects and the impact in the accounting function, internal controls and operating systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews and approves the financial statements, month-end, and year-end closing processes in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and policies to comply with COSO framework and established best practices.
  • Reviews and approves company financial statements for accuracy and clarity.
  • Maintains, monitors, and enforces internal control guidelines.
  • Manages efforts during internal and external auditing process.
  • Manages the balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Liaison with software development team regarding reporting and other system requirements.
  • Verifies the integrity of systems and processes in place.
  • Prepares required regulatory reporting and internal reports.
  • Experience with US GAAP.
  • Manages tax reporting and compliance.
  • Reviews the development and issuing of inventory cost factors.
  • Maintains good communication channels within the company and outside customers. Will interact with all levels and functions.
  • Directly supervise employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.
  • Management of one or more of the following areas:
    Financial Reporting, Budgets, Insurance Data, and Banking.
  • Serves as Payroll Backup and Audit.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Supervise assigned staff including hiring, training, scheduling and performance evaluation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accounting, Financial Reporting & Budgets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • BS or BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business focus; CPA/Master’s degree a plus.
  • Seven plus years of Accounting/Finance Management experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Excel, ERP system data (BC26/Dynamics NAV a plus).
  • Able to efficiently use financial data mining tools, Power BI and/or AI tools.
  • Knowledge of the standard cost and manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    Credit/Collections, Financial Reporting, Budgets, Accounts Receivable, Insurance Management, and Banking.
  • Experience in the consumer products industry.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills – ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Initiative – ability to work and achieve objectives independently.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines.
  • Strong Problem Solving and Process Improvement Skills.
  • Solid People Management skills including performance management.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in monthly brand financial review process and integrate identified action items.
