JOB SUMMARY
The Speech Pathologist at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for patient evaluation and treatment planning, supervision of interns, and maintaining productivity levels. The Speech Pathologist must also exhibit effective leadership skills, coordination with other therapy disciplines, and adherence to regulations while demonstrating problem-solving abilities and ensuring patient satisfaction through skillful clinical decisions.
Responsibilities- Supervises student interns.
- Maintains productivity level at department target.
- Evaluates and establishes treatment plans for patients referred to Speech Pathology.
- Clinically competent in assessment, treatment, and use of equipment as appropriate for the clinical area.
- Attends and provides continuing education in-services.
- Serves as a mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers.
- Serves as clinical instructor after one year of experience as a clinician.
- Completes documentation according to regulations in a timely manner.
- May be required to cover other areas of rehab within the limits to meet patient care needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide speech therapy services for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Education
:
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required). - Licenses and Certifications
:- SP-L – Licensed Speech Pathologist; must hold a state license based on facility location (upon hire, required).
- CPR – BLS CPR certification (upon hire, required).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) within 1 year (required).
- Experience / Skills
:- Competence in assessment and treatment across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations where applicable.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement patient treatment; coordinate treatment schedules with related rehab professionals.
- Participation in PI projects, committees, and teams; ability to establish and revise treatment protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Strong human relations skills and effective communication with team members, physicians, nursing staff, social workers, payors, and patients.
