Overview
Dietitian - Full Time, Days at North Mississippi Health Services.
Responsibilities- Nutritional Assessment and Care Plans: assess patients/residents referred by physician or nurse, development of medical nutrition therapy plans; monitor progress and adjust therapy as needed; implement plans per policy; rounds on patients/residents; participate in patient satisfaction programs.
- Education and Training: provide individual counseling for a wide range of disease-specific needs; teach diet services to food nutrition staff; mentor less experienced peers, Dietitian Assistants, and trainees; train dietetic interns as assigned.
- Communication and
Collaboration:
discuss nutrition problems with the healthcare team; document recommendations in the medical record; serve on patient care teams; communicate changes in food service and clinical standards; collect and submit data for Performance Improvement and required reports; inform relevant departments of changes; coordinate schedules and procedures with customers. - Operations and Compliance: ensure food staff compliance with regulations and policies; assist in budget requests, awareness of budget status, and cost control; adhere to safe food handling and sanitation standards; perform monthly sanitation rounds and report findings.
- Education
: B.S. degree in Foods & Nutrition or qualifying nutrition-related major (Required) - Licenses and Certifications
:
Registered or registry-eligible as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration/American Dietetic Association; state licensure required or to be obtained within 60 days;
Serve Safe Certification or achieved within 1 year (Preferred) - Experience
:
Maintains continuing education requirements (Required) - Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
: basic computer skills; nutrition care competency; knowledge of regulatory agency standards; ability to interpret nutrition and medical research; ability to develop educational materials; strong communication and teamwork; independent work style and ability to balance multiple tasks; positive patient-centered attitude; effective problem solving and customer service.
