Responsibilities
  • Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
  • Provides one-to-one activities to those who cannot be in a group setting.
  • Assists in planning Activity Program through Resident’s Council and Activity Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance sheets on participants.
  • Assists residents to and from activities.
  • Communicates status of residents to Activity Coordinator.
  • May attend interdisciplinary care plan team meetings and document on care plan and in-progress notes.
  • May make arrangements for movies, live entertainment for special programs, and group outings such as picnics, ball games or sightseeing.
  • Assigns duties and delegates responsibilities to volunteers.
  • Access to protected health information in the resident’s financial and medical records to conduct job duties.
Qualifications
  • Experience in long term care required; preferred in recreational setting.
  • An interest in people; ability to communicate ideas and instruct residents and communicate with them appropriately.
  • Ability to direct and perform a variety of activities and to respond to varied needs of residents.
  • Able to motivate residents and promote their well being through direct activities.
  • Ability to interpret feelings, ideas, or facts in terms of personal viewpoint.
  • Must be able to evaluate resident’s progress and accurately report to Activities Coordinator.
  • Imagination and creativity are necessary.
