Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Agribusiness Officer, you will be responsible for community-level youth mobilization, providing support and guidance to young people in developing their entrepreneurial, vocational, and interpersonal skills for dignified and fulfilling work opportunities. You will engage with the community, identify training needs, and create opportunities for young people to acquire relevant skills and enhance their employability. You will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the project activities under the AMS project by working closely with participants on a day-to-day base, including technical backstopping and other support to beneficiary youth and farmer‑led youth organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work with project manager, Agribusiness officer, and consortium partners to design and develop tools, market‑relevant skilling curriculum and training materials tailored to the needs of young people.

Plan and organize skills training workshops, vocational training sessions, financial literacy, and other educational activities in coordination with project staff, stakeholders, and local technical and vocational training institutions.

Liaise with local businesses, employers, and industries to create job placement opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships for trained young people.

Assist in identifying market opportunities and potential business partnerships for young entrepreneurs.

Collaborate with the project team to identify innovative approaches to expand the program’s reach and impact.

Conduct regular outreach activities, meetings, and awareness sessions, closely working with key stakeholders to establish strategic alliances and secure support.

Organize community meetings and awareness sessions to promote the program’s objectives and opportunities.

Provide mentorship and guidance to program participants, helping them identify their skills, interests, and entrepreneurial aspirations.

Assist participants in developing business plans, market penetration, research, branding, customer acquisition, and feasibility studies for their proposed ventures.

Conduct regular field visits to monitor skills training and implementation of business plans, providing feedback to participants.

Facilitate access to financial services, micro‑credit, and business development resources for beneficiary youth.

Engage with the local community and maintain strong relationships with refugee and host communities, including young people, parents, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to identify skill gaps and training needs.

Participate in CBF selection, recruitment, screening, and selection, ensuring inclusivity and diversity.

Collaborate with other project staff and partners to develop and implement operational plans and detailed strategies for the effective implementation of Youth in Work interventions.

Collect and maintain accurate records of participant profiles, progress, and achievements.

Monitor the progress and performance of participants, providing feedback and assistance as needed to ensure their successful completion of the program.

Prepare reports on program activities, including success stories, documented achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for program management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Enterprise Development, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.

At least 3 years proven experience in community work, youth development, or related fields.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including youth, community leaders, and employers.

Knowledge of the project location and its social, cultural, and economic context is highly desirable.

Knowledge of local languages spoken in Adjumani and Kiryandongo is desirable.

Familiarity with work in refugee host‑community settings is an added advantage.

Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Motorcycle riding skills is an added advantage.

Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities.
