Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are entering a phase where our technology is scaling and being deployed more broadly in the field. To support this growth, we are hiring talented individuals to join our team. Over the next months, we plan to scale the size of the company, making this a unique moment to join Pipein and help shape the future of our technology.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Integration & Testing Engineer to support the integration, testing, maintenance, and validation of our robotic systems, working across field operations, lab activities, and R&D support.
This is a practical engineering role at the intersection of R&D, lab testing, and field operations. Your main focus will be making sure our robotic subsystems, sensors, and accessories are correctly assembled, tested and ready for deployment.
You will work on both existing platforms and new developments: assembling systems, creating and supporting test setups, debugging hardware and firmware issues, maintaining robotic components, and helping validate new solutions before they are used in the field. Operations will have priority when support is needed, but the role is not limited to field or deployment activities: when not supporting operations, you will contribute to lab work, component testing, test automation, and the development and validation of new systems.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly on hardware and embedded systems, solving real technical problems, and doing practical engineering work rather than purely theoretical or research-oriented activities. You will work closely with robotics, mechanical, electronics, and software engineers in a fast-moving deep-tech environment where practical problem solving, adaptability, and ownership are essential.
What You Will Do
System Assembly & Integration:
You will assemble, integrate, and maintain robotic systems, accessories, sensors, and subsystems, supporting both existing platforms and new developments.
Testing, Maintenance & Repair:
You will support system testing and validation activities to help ensure the robots are operational, reliable, and ready for deployment in real-world conditions. You will also contribute to the maintenance and repair of robotic assets, sensors, and electronics, including practical hardware work such as soldering, cable management, component replacements, and system rework.
Operational & Workshop Support:
You will support day-to-day engineering and field activities, including workshop tasks, inventory management, preparation of systems for deployment, and technical support during testing activities.
Hardware, Firmware & R&D Support:
When issues arise, you will help troubleshoot hardware and firmware problems on both custom and off-the-shelf components, identifying root causes and implementing practical fixes. You will also support the R&D team, when needed, by testing new hardware, firmware, and system improvements and bringing practical feedback from lab and field activities into the development process.
Who We Are Looking For
A Practical Problem Solver:
You are comfortable diagnosing issues, troubleshooting systems, and finding solutions under operational constraints. You enjoy understanding how systems work and fixing problems.
Hands-On Engineering Mindset:
You are comfortable working with electronics, robotic systems, sensors, and embedded hardware, and prefer practical engineering work over purely theoretical activities. You are also comfortable with activities such as soldering, wiring, hardware maintenance, system debugging, and general lab or workshop work.
Linux & technical environments:
You are comfortable working in Linux environments and using technical tools as part of your workflow.
Hardware & Firmware Troubleshooting
Skills:
You have experience debugging hardware and embedded systems, and are comfortable identifying issues across electronics, firmware, wiring, communication interfaces, and system-level interactions.
Adaptable & Reliable:
This is a startup environment where priorities can evolve quickly. You are comfortable switching between assembly, operational support activities, debugging, testing, and logistics when needed.
Ownership & Initiative:
You take responsibility for your work and do not wait for detailed instructions. When something is not working properly, you proactively work to understand and improve it.
Degree in electronics, mechatronics, robotics or related fields is appreciated. Alternative…
