The Department of Graphic Design at Bilkent University invites applications for a full-time, open-rank faculty position beginning Fall 2026.
We seek a Ph.D.
-level candidate with a strong academic background and research record in graphic design, industrial design, or the humanities, who demonstrates an ability to integrate theory, research, and creative practice.
The successful candidate will contribute to our interdisciplinary approach to design education, bringing expertise that bridges visual communication, design culture, and design methods.
Responsibilities- Teach design theory, studio, and/or research courses at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Conduct independent and collaborative research
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate theses
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental committees
- Engage with interdisciplinary projects across design, art, and humanities
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Graphic Design, Design Studies, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Humanities, or a closely related field (completed by the time of appointment)
- Evidence of research potential through peer-reviewed publications, creative works, or design research
- Teaching experience or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
- Excellent command of English (medium of instruction at Bilkent University)
- Record of scholarly or creative publications/exhibitions
- Interdisciplinary teaching and research experience
- Evidence of project leadership, collaboration, or external funding
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and mentorship
