What you need to know about this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (Masters or PhD in Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, or Textile Chemistry is highly preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in spin finish and sizing chemicals specifically within synthetic fiber (PAN, Nylon, Polyester) production processes, able to quantify results, leading projects, improvement activities.
  • Deep understanding of surface chemistry, colloid chemistry, and emulsion technologies.
  • Possess hands‑on analytical equipment capabilities (GC, HPLC, FTIR, Rheometer, XPS, AFM, etc.) along with wet chemistry experience.
  • Strong ability to implement Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical data analysis (e.g., Minitab), proficiency in MS Office applications, and solid knowledge of ERP tools.
  • Problem‑solving oriented, innovative mindset, high laboratory discipline, and a strong penchant for teamwork.
  • Advanced proficiency in English to follow technical literature and communicate with global stakeholders.
  • Reside in or be willing to relocate to Yalova, İzmit, or the Anatolian side of Istanbul.
Job Description
  • Primarily responsible for developing, formulating and enhancing precursor finishes (spin‑finish) and carbon fiber sizing chemicals used in production lines.
  • Conduct chemical modification studies to improve interfacial adhesion between carbon fibers and various polymer matrices (epoxy, vinyl ester, thermoplastics, etc.).
  • Test the applicability of developed chemicals on pilot and mass production lines; optimize parameters such as drying, polymerization, and coating thickness.
  • Characterize the thermal stability, friction coefficient, and mechanical properties (tensile strength, ILSS) of the fiber after chemical coating.
  • Stay updated on global literature and raw material markets regarding next‑generation sustainable surfactants, emulsifiers, and film‑forming polymers.
  • Support energy, infrastructure, and automotive‑related carbon fiber and composite product development projects as a team member, working with multiple functions in the field.
  • Provide and maintain detailed documentation and procedures for all work performed.
