Teams meet two to four times yearly in person, in interesting locations around the world, to align on strategy and execution.

The Commercial Systems unit consists of six engineering teams that closely collaborate with other engineering and business teams vices designed, developed, and operated by the unit are at the heart of Canonical business, and Golang plays an integral role.

• Billing team - designs, develops, and operates a Golang service that turns metrics into billable amounts, enables customers to see their current spend with Canonical at any time, and ensures accurate, reliable, and timely billing. The service further integrates with other engineering, business, and payment systems.
• Contracts team - designs, develops, and operates a Golang service that serves as the single source of truth for all contracts with customers. It provides CPQ capability, stores signed contracts, and integrates with CRM and accounting systems.
• Livepatch team - designs and develops a service for delivering Linux kernel patches, shrinking the exploit window for critical and high‑severity Linux kernel vulnerabilities. Engineers develop Golang‑based client and backend components; the Kernel team develops the security patches.

This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

• Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
• Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team.

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject, or a compelling narrative of an alternative path.
• Track record of going above‑and‑beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results.
• Experience with software development in Golang.
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
• Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long.

• Performance engineering and security experience.
• Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations or other business roles.
