Position: Program Coordinator (SSP IV)

Position Summary

Full‑time temporary position (Student Services Professional IV) available on or after January 5, 2026 in Student Leadership, Engagement & Belonging. Appointment is for one year, with possible reappointment or conversion to permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

The Coordinator supports and leads the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (ASAP), providing resources and support to foster holistic wellness and academic success. This role includes creating and coordinating inclusive, equity‑driven programs that promote civic engagement, student success, and belonging. The Coordinator delivers individualized advising, workshops, academic and personal success interventions, and referrals to campus and community resources.

Responsibilities also encompass recordkeeping, program assessment, and data‑informed decision‑making.

Job Duties
  • Lead conceptualization, planning, coordination, and enhancement of identity‑based and equity‑centered student success initiatives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain diverse programs and services that address student engagement, retention, and holistic development.
  • Coordinate and administer programs, events, and projects; facilitate student involvement in campus life.
  • Set work priorities, make decisions, and solve problems that impact staff and departments.
  • Perform program analysis, collaborate with cross‑divisional partners, and align services with campus equity goals.
  • Advocate for individual and group student needs with university administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Lead evaluation frameworks to assess program quality and student outcomes; conduct studies, surveys, and report preparations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, operational standards, and workflows.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate student assistants, interns, and support staff.
  • Manage program budgets, procurement processes, and expenditure tracking.
  • Provide oversight for daily operations, including service delivery, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Support strategic planning and reporting with divisional leadership; contribute to accreditation and grant reporting efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from a four‑year college or university in a related field, plus graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
  • Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience that includes advising individuals and groups and resolving complex student service problems.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field may substitute one year of professional experience.
  • Doctorate with appropriate internship or clinical training may substitute two years of experience for positions requiring major counseling responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Administration, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education or university setting.
  • At least four years leading AANHPI student retention, engagement, or leadership programs.
  • Experience developing and assessing academic, leadership, or culturally responsive programs.
  • Experience coordinating workshops, wellness initiatives, peer support, or cultural events.
  • Proficiency in an Asian or Pacific Islander language (e.g., Punjabi, Hmong, Tagalog, Khmer).

Special Conditions
  • May be required to work after‑hours, evenings, or weekends.
  • Travel between Turlock and Stockton campuses and surrounding communities.
