The Department of English at California State University, Stanislaus invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Writing Studies. We seek a committed teacher‑scholar who is excited to contribute to a department that values innovation, collaboration, and student-centered teaching. The successful candidate will have opportunities to shape the future of our writing program and participate in Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives and leadership.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in writing studies, professional writing, and related areas.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship.
- Contribute to curriculum development and writing program initiatives.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to English majors and graduate students.
- Participate in service to the department, college, and university.
- Ph.D. in Writing Studies or a closely related field (earned by the time of appointment).
- Evidence of effective teaching and an active research agenda.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring first‑gen students and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Scholarly interest in one of the following areas: composition pedagogy, professional writing, digital rhetorics, or AI literacy.
- Experience, training, or education in writing program administration, WAC/WID, or related leadership roles.
- Engagement with community partnerships or public-facing scholarship.
A complete application must include: an application letter specifically addressing the position description and qualifications; unofficial photocopies of graduate transcripts; a statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of teaching proficiency; professional curriculum vitae that includes the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references.
