Aspiranet, a leading California-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families, is seeking a passionate Teacher's Aide to join the team at Fusion Charter School in Turlock. In this role, you’ll provide instruction and support to at-risk students, while building student confidence. By promoting a school culture, you’ll help students achieve both academic and personal growth.
Position Summary Under the direct supervision of a site administrator, assists teachers in the classroom or similar learning situations. Oversees and supervises students during the instruction, assists individually, and in groups, follows prescribed courses of study, performs clerical and paraprofessional tasks both outside and in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities Student Engagement & Support- Works with individual children and/or in small groups; interacts with children, encourages positive performance, observes their progress and shares observations with the supervisor.
- Performs duties appropriate classroom needs: in reading, math and language skill areas
- Gives additional time daily to children identified for additional help, reinforces concepts taught by the teacher.
- Works with large groups of children when necessary to enable the teacher to spend additional time with identified children for developmental skill building.
- Uses supplementary materials and media to assist children with skill acquisition and application./
- Assists with special physical needs of children in wheelchairs: ambulation in the classroom and on campus; transferring to and from the floor, mat and chair; recess activities to ensure safety.
- Assists with special physical needs of other children
- Document student incidents and notify teachers/administrators as required.
- Perform variety of routine clerical and record keeping activities such as collecting monies, filling out forms and applications, and correcting paper. File and record test scores, grades and other date in student records.
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality in all interactions.
- Assists teacher to meet the needs of students with I.E.P. goals in a learning environment.
- Performs playground and/or cafeteria duties as required.
- Playground duties include supervising students, enforcing playground rules and requiring equipment be used correctly.
- Cares for injured and/or ill children to the extent of personal abilities and training.
- Assist in planning and preparing instructional materials.
- 48 units of higher education studies or an AA Degree
- Ability to use and operate basic office equipment and machines including computers
- Ability to use basic word processing and spread sheet programs like WORD and EXCEL.
- Maintain student and staff confidentiality
- Respect confidential nature of pupil records and school reports
- Demonstrates correct written and oral use of the English language
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills Possess basic arithmetic skills
- Displays appropriate interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents
- Able to prioritize work assigned
- Basic understanding of child development characteristics
- Must have the ability and skill to drive a vehicle.
- Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by Community Care Licensing for a licensed Community Care Facility; i.e. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index Clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report)
- On-site work at Fusion Charter School in Turlock, CA.
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and work on a computer for up to 20 hours per week. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs, operate office equipment, and safely handle materials.
