Position: Accessibility Technologist Specialist (AT II)
    • Position Summary
    • (Classified as: Accessibility Technologist II)

      Full-time position available on or after February 1, 2026 for Disability Resource Services.

      This position’s responsibilities are carried out under general supervision. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that digital content, academic materials, and technology systems are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Work includes implementing accessibility policies, conducting accessibility audits, deploying assistive technologies, developing training and workshops, supporting faculty and staff in the creation of accessible documents and media, and collaborating with IT and procurement teams on accessible design and compliance.

      The role involves applying professional knowledge to projects of moderate scope and complexity while exercising judgment in selecting appropriate methods.

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Prepares and obtains alternate text formats using approved accessibility tools and resources, ensuring converted materials are accurate and usable.
      • Provides technical support and user guidance on Accessible Instructional Material (AIM) systems to ensure proper access and functionality.
      • Configures and delivers instructional materials in accessible formats.
      • Troubleshoots AIM-related technical issues and provides assistance on system use.
      • Supports the preparation of accessible testing materials and provides technical assistance to ensure exams are compatible with assistive technologies.
      • Maintains accessibility-related systems, equipment, or tools that support student access services. Provides technical guidance or training on proper use of accessibility technology resources.
      • Maintains and tracks accessibility-related equipment and technology inventory.
      • Reports and documents access-related issues within classrooms or labs.
      • Maintains and deploys assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, voice recognition, on-screen magnification, literacy learning, augmented and alternate input) for students.
      • Oversee document accessibility diagnosis and remediation, including optical character recognition (OCR) systems and text editing. This includes correcting materials so that the resultant materials are accessible and usable by students. This also includes instructional materials from publishers and other sources when not created in-house, and provides final approval for student use
      • Supports the implementation and assists in the development of accessibility policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with ADA Title II, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, CSU policies, and other applicable regulations.
      • Ensures digital content, academic materials, and technology systems are accessible to people with disabilities.
      • Implements and contributes to the development of accessibility policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations.
      • Develops and delivers digital content accessibility processes as well as documentation for content creators.
      • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to provide guidance and support in the creation of accessible materials, including documents, multimedia, and online courses. Provides training and workshops to faculty and staff on accessible design principles, techniques, and assistive technologies.
      • Builds, creates, communicates, and executes processes that evaluate and remediate the accessibility of digital documents and media used by faculty, staff, and students.
      • Collaborates with external vendors, publishers, and accessibility service providers to facilitate the acquisition and timely provision of resources.
      • Conducts accessibility audits and assessments of digital content, websites, applications, and technology systems to identify accessibility barriers.
      • Collaborates with campus committees and organizations focused on accessibility to promote awareness and advocate for accessibility improvements.
      • Serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and/or students on accessibility-related inquiries and concerns.
      • May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development, based on department and/or campus needs, to stay current with industry standards.
      • At the direction of appropriate administrator, may provide support to other areas within department as needed.

    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education :
      Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

      Experience :
      Two (2) years of relevant experience.
