Associate Veterinarian – Waterford Veterinary Center, Waterford, CA

Waterford Veterinary Center (WVC) is growing! We are a primarily companion animal practice located in the heart of Waterford, CA, with the exciting potential to expand into mobile small ruminant and porcine medicine. Currently a 1.5-doctor practice, we’re looking to add another associate as we grow toward a 3-doctor team.

At WVC, we pride ourselves on being family-friendly and fostering a positive, supportive work environment. Our caseload is diverse, ranging from general practice and wellness to urgent care and the occasional emergency. We practice spectrum-of-care medicine, offering high-quality veterinary services tailored to the needs of each pet and family—whether they’re from a low-income household or seeking referral to a specialty facility.

Waterford is a welcoming small town in California’s Central Valley, just east of Modesto. Living here offers a relaxed, family-oriented community with a lower cost of living compared to many parts of California. Outdoor enthusiasts love the area’s proximity to the Sierra Nevada mountains for hiking, camping, and fishing, as well as easy weekend trips to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, or the California coast.

Dr. Alena Caswell has been in the veterinary industry for over 12 years and is a proud graduate of UC Davis, where she focused on mixed livestock and companion animal medicine. Dr. Caswell has worn many hats including livestock, dairy and emergency practitioner before finding her home at WVC. A diverse background enables her to offer comprehensive care across multiple species, combining expertise in both large and small animal medicine to serve the community's veterinary needs.
