Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3558)
Join Game Stop as an Assistant Store Manager. Game Stop is a leading global retailer of video games, electronics, and gaming merchandise, dedicated to creating unforgettable customer experiences and pushing the boundaries of gaming.
Responsibilities- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions, recommend items, and ensure every transaction is handled courteously and efficiently.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that drive sales and repeat business.
- Process purchases/returns using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system accurately, including making correct changes and issuing receipts.
- Handle phone calls promptly and professionally, escalating issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefit programs (new title reservations, trade‑in, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with training, setting service expectations, and providing feedback to associates.
- Supervise staffing levels, correct scheduling, payroll approvals, and ensure associates complete onboarding and training.
- Maintain store cleanliness and ensure all equipment works properly.
- Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders and manage inventory control, loss prevention, and bank deposits.
- Track and reconcile daily transactions, bank deposit slips, and ensure accurate closeout documentation.
- Communicate discrepancies, record defects, and participate in inventory counts.
- Enforce safety procedures and report any injuries per company guidelines.
- Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
- Adhere to all Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Minimum age of 18.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience (preferred).
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience (preferred).
- Video game knowledge preferred.
Skills And Abilities
- Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Capability to work independently and within a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in POS system operation.
- Basic math and alphabetizing skills.
- Capacity to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 lbs, standing up to 12 hours, and working extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Understanding of military ranks and insignia for store locations on military bases (if applicable).
