The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) and the Lee J. Styslinger Jr. College of Engineering at The University of Alabama (UA) invite applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Resilience Engineering, with emphasis on sustainable, adaptable and resilient infrastructure systems through geotechnical/geoengineering or construction engineering/management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead a high‑impact research program in resilience engineering, including innovative solutions for carbon reduction, hazard mitigation, digital transformation, and real‑time health monitoring.
- Secure extramural research funding and build a collaborative research network within CCEE, SCoE, and the broader UA community.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil, construction and environmental engineering and support program accreditation.
- Mentor students and assist in curriculum development, ensuring a rigorous and inclusive educational experience.
- Participate in departmental, college‑wide, and university service activities to advance research, teaching, and community engagement.
- Earned Ph.D. in Architectural, Civil, Construction, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated record of impactful scholarly publications in refereed journals and conferences.
- Evidence of teaching interest and experience in engineering education and professional service.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Potential to establish and sustain a high‑quality research program.
- Ability to teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Nationally or internationally recognized high‑quality research record.
- Experience in teaching or research across both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Post‑doctoral experience or equivalent advanced research experience.
- Progress toward professional licensure (FE or PE) or other relevant certification.
- Exceptional collegial, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
