Our client is seeking a Network Administrator/Engineer based in Tuscaloosa, AL. The role involves working directly with the client’s customers via phone and email to address service-related issues. The ideal candidate should possess good communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Administer LANs, WANs, and remote networks, including hardware, software, protocols, and security.
- Support and manage Solaris 11, Debian Linux, Juniper, Cisco, Mikrotik, ADTRAN networking gear, and related systems.
- Respond to customer calls regarding Internet and VoIP services.
- Document troubleshooting and resolution steps thoroughly.
- Install, configure, and maintain Solaris and Linux systems.
- Research and implement automated solutions for system administration.
- Monitor systems daily, verify hardware and system integrity, and review logs.
- Manage user accounts and apply system patches and upgrades.
- Maintain operational procedures and configurations.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience and certifications.
- JNCIA or CCNA certifications required; JNCIP-SP preferred.
- Juniper experience and certifications are highly valued.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with scripting languages like Shell, Perl, Python.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including one weekend day.
