Job Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst I documents, installs, analyzes, and/or maintains operating system(s) used for the business purpose of assigned area. Provides technical support and training to users concerning system software and utilities. Serves as subject matter expert for system. Serves as liaison to the central Office of Information Technology (OIT) for advanced support needs.

Department Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to create standard and customized reports for the library services platform as required by the University Libraries administration and staff to facilitate decision-making efforts in support of the University Libraries mission and goals. This position creates and runs complex SQL queries using MS Access, SQL Developer, and other RDBMS in support of University Libraries functions.

This position will assist with all aspects of an upcoming library systems migration and provide general and technical support for the new library services platform. The incumbent assists in configuration management in the FOLIO LSP environment and provides editing and further customization of programmer-supplied scripts. The person in this role assists with patron authentication of web-based library e-resources. In doing so, this role also establishes, maintains, and troubleshoots EZproxy and SSO configurations, as well as patron access issues.

This position collaborates with personnel working in University Libraries e-resources area and may have to communicate with vendors to resolve technical issues. This position provides minimal Web coding and maintenance of University Libraries public interfaces for the Online Public Access Catalog and EZproxy. The successful applicant will need to be able to communicate with library administrators, faculty, and staff to understand report objectives and then design and develop reports to meet them.

The successful applicant will need strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to accomplish these tasks. The person in this role will also need to be able to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and independently organize, self‑direct, and review their workload and tasks.

Required

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of IT experience; OR High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of IT experience.

Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and independently organize, self‑direct, and review workload and tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of bibliographic record structures and core library operations such as circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, and e-resources access and authentication. Experience with EZproxy authentication software. Experience troubleshooting library vendor software and electronic resource access problems. Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Bash. Knowledge of data formats and structures, CSV, XML, JSON.
