The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing all production, safety, quality, and personnel activities during assigned shift.
Essential Functions- Responsible for the overall production and operations of the processing plant.
- Fill in for Plant Manager in his absence.
- Ensure food safety/security throughout the processing plant.
- Develop and maintain a positive government regulatory work environment and relationship.
- Lead and develop continuous improvement programs.
- Work closely with quality assurance and maintenance in any changing of product specification or machinery change/repair.
- Ensure that all product produced is of the highest level and standard of quality.
- Performs various special tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager and the Corporate Director of Processing.
- Comply with all written corporate safety and plant policies.
- Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies.
- Identify and report any suspicious situations to the plant manager.
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred (Operations, Animal Science, Food Science, or related field).
3+ years of prior supervisory experience in a poultry or food manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of poultry processing operations, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency with production reporting systems and basic computer applications.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods.
Exposure to cold, wet, noisy, and industrial processing environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
