Overview
The Apprentice B Lineman position utilizes heavy equipment operation knowledge in the construction and maintenance of our nation’s Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems.
Job DutiesAs an Apprentice B Lineman, you will support your team by:
- Securing the safety of yourself and others

The physical demands include regularly talking or hearing, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, performing physical labor, sitting, climbing structures, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Team-members may lift over 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentExposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, extreme conditions, loud noise, and weather variations. Work is outdoors, often in diverse weather conditions.
General Expectations- Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days
- Operate heavy equipment used in powerline construction
- Effective communication skills
- Travel long distances when required
- Work in various locations and conditions
- Lift over 50 lbs.
- Work overtime, including weekends and holidays
- Perform construction, maintenance, or repair of energized/de-energized overhead lines safely
- Inspect PPE and rubber goods
- Install wires, poles, transformers, and other components
- Work with high voltage systems carefully
- Maintain vehicles and tools
- Perform physical labor and use proper communication equipment
- Follow safety procedures and understand electrical concepts
- Work at heights and in confined spaces
- Check voltages, install/remove services, and assist with rigging and grounding
