Job Summary:

The Athletics Building Envelope Restoration Technician maintains, repairs, and restores the exterior envelopes of athletic facilities and related structures. Conducts visual inspections and diagnostic testing to identify damage, deterioration, or potential problems within the building envelopes. Performs hands‑on maintenance and restoration of envelope components such as masonry, concrete, siding, and painting, applying advanced techniques and materials. Ensures the structural integrity, weather resistance, and aesthetic quality of these buildings and compliance with relevant standards.

Works closely with facilities management, contractors, and other maintenance staff to address issues related to roofing, exterior walls, windows, waterproofing, concrete structures, and related systems.

Department Summary:

Waterproofs facilities by replacing and/or repairing high‑performance deck coatings, roof and wall flashing, and sealants in expansion and construction joints across various building structures and facades to ensure proper moisture expulsion. Removes and replaces deteriorated or damaged materials using power tools (saws, grinders, drills, mixers, etc.). Some tasks may require working on elevated platforms to access hard‑to‑reach areas safely and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of building envelope repairs, waterproofing, structural maintenance, or masonry experience, to include one (1) year focused on exterior restoration, waterproofing, or concrete repair.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post‑offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings. Knowledge of building materials, tools, and techniques for envelope and structural repairs. Detail‑oriented approach to craftsmanship. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with facilities staff and contractors. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines. Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations. Ability to safely perform tasks requiring climbing, lifting (up to 100 lbs.),

and working at heights or in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience inspecting and restoring building envelope systems using techniques including roofing, masonry, sealants, window assemblies, and concrete repair. Experience using tools and equipment related to building envelope restoration and concrete repair (caulking guns, masonry tools, concrete mixers, roofing equipment, etc.). Journeyman mason/concrete certification and/or certified waterproofing installer preferred. Familiarity with athletic facility construction and maintenance standards is a plus.
