Mechanic Helper

Job Title: Lead Mechanic

Reports To: Fleet Director
Location: North Georgia
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00/hr DOE

C&H Services is looking for a Mechanic Helper to keep our fleet running strong. You’ll handle diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and related systems — from light trucks to heavy-duty equipment. This role requires hands-on skill, a solid toolset, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

• Diagnose & repair diesel engines (mechanical, electrical & hydraulic systems).
• Read & apply wiring diagrams, schematics (12/24 VDC), and manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, filters, fluid checks, inspections).
• Replace and install parts as needed (brakes, sensors, components).
• Work with diesel systems: fuel injection, turbo, DEF/DPF, cooling & exhaust.
• Maintain your own toolset (up to ½" drive) and keep the shop organized.
• Complete repair orders & maintenance logs.
• Work with the Foreman and team to keep jobs on track.
• Follow all safety rules and OSHA standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with small engine repair a plus.
• Ability to read complex wiring diagrams & schematics.
• Must own a complete toolset.
• Basic computer skills;
  Microsoft Office experience preferred.

• Lift/move 50–75 lbs regularly (heavier with aids).
• Work in tight spaces, on your feet, and in all conditions.
• Comfortable with noise, fumes, heat/cold, and PPE use.
