Flexco is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Controls Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing new control systems, updating and troubleshooting existing systems for various applications. This role requires a strong understanding of automation processes and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure optimal performance of control systems. Must possess a working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs along with all versions of Allen Bradley programming software.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Design and develop control systems using logic controllers and other automation technologies.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and all programs.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on existing control systems, utilizing tools such as an Ohmmeter.
- Ensure adherence to NEC standards in all electrical designs and installations.
- Provide technical support and training to team members on control system operations.
- Assist team with occasional field wiring/plumbing, panel building, conduit runs, and training to support overall project deadlines as necessary.
- Apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical/electronic techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Maintain strong knowledge of logic controllers and their applications in industrial settings.
- Exhibit excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- May require ability to operate a forklift and aerial lift.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
- Handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of industrial automation controllers, electronics, electrical‑mechanical devices, interface units, AC motors, wiring diagrams and schematics, computers and inspection and digital devices.
- Perform general electrical work, i.e., conduit, wire sizing, pulling wire, and construction.
- Display competent ability to wire, assemble, and layout electrical/electronic systems in a very neat and professional manner and conform to wiring specifications.
- Maintain work area cleanliness and general housekeeping.
- Read, write, and follow directions in respect of SOPs, management instructions, and other job-related instructions.
- Basic communication skills required.
- Work in a team environment.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely at all times.
- Self‑manage, prioritize, multi‑task, and work under deadlines.
- Perform manual tasks under varying temperature conditions in an indoor manufacturing environment.
- Transport and deliver various tools, equipment, and materials.
- Operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, man lifts, computers, grinders, welders, cutting torch, drills, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and assemble parts as needed.
- Meet the physical demands of the position: semi‑moderate to moderate physical activity, including sitting, standing, hand/arm manipulation, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, seeing, touching/feeling, hearing, and crouching.
- Lift up to 100 lbs.
- High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
- At least 2 years of job‑related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience designing and programming industrial controls systems, robotic controls.
- Familiarity with wiring including layouts, labeling, and cable management.
- Maintain awareness and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
- Pass standardized maintenance aptitude test.
- Pass pre‑employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
Associates or better in Electronics Technology or related field.
