Position OverviewWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our DWT Research team located in Tustin, California. We are looking for someone with drive, talent, and experience in new product development. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Program Manager of our DWT Research division and be responsible for creating and validating mechanical designs to support business operations and customer activities.

- Assess Technical Data Package (TDP) to formulate design, validation, and production strategy.
- Develop and maintain program‑specific Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs).
- Lead Design Reviews and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analyses.
- Lead design and trade study efforts, mentor less experienced engineers, and develop design solutions to complex technical problems.
- Develop and execute Design Verification Plan (DVP), including reviewing government validation requirements, creating test procedures, planning test equipment calibration and fixtures, performing internal engineering testing, and writing up formal test reports as needed; maintain and release the final testing report (DVP&R).
- Support component and assembly build from initial prototype through full production launch.
- Act as project manager as needed to support meeting project milestones.

- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, preferably aerospace/automotive/defense industries.
- Experience with system engineering and/or power electronics development strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of designing and developing complex mechanical systems and launching such products into production.
- Advanced and recent hands‑on Solid Works knowledge.
- Experience in engineering risk management tools such as DFMEA and PFMEA.
- Strong foundation of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required. Advanced technical degree preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals.
- Technical background with understanding of military product developments, including military standards and specifications (MIL, etc.). Familiarity with DoD technical review process.
- Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in Solid Works is strongly desired.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
